Elementary Goals
2013-2014
I. All students will read at or above grade level.
1.
K-6 will continue to follow the Reading First model.
2. Maintain special reading
teacher/instructional coaching for intermediate grades.
3. Schoolwide
implementation of Title I.
4. Administer a formal reading
assessment at 3rd through 6th grades.
5. Maintain small class sizes to ensure
differentiated instruction for continued reading success.
6. School-wide DEAR from 7:50 am-8:10
am.
II. All students will understand fundamental concepts and
procedures of mathematics at or above grade level.
1.
Follow
core mathematics program aligned with GLEs
2. Incorporate a
system of progress monitoring and benchmarking to monitor fluency in basic
math skills.
3. Schoolwide
implementation of Title I.
4. Include 60 minutes
of protected math time daily within classroom schedules.
5. Implement a Title I Math
Interventionist.
III. Achieve “Top 10 Status” on MAP
1.
Incorporate differentiated, student-centered learning aligned with GLEs.
2. Provide Professional Development
opportunities to assist teachers
3. Create Curriculum Maps for Social
Studies, Science, and Math aligned with GLE’s.
4. Provide positive MAP incentives to
students and teachers.
IV. Promote positive behaviors
among students

Regular classroom lessons by and availability of school counselor
2. Teach expectations to students

4. Develop Character Education committee

V. Increased parent communications
1.
Encourage teachers to make at least one positive contact (note or telephone)
per student, per quarter.
2. Provide assistance to teachers
wanting to create a classroom web page and/or newsletters.
3. Encourage take home folders in K-4
and use of planners in 5th and 6th grade.
